SLANSHEI hosted its 8th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 26th March 2025, at Cinnamon Life – City of Dreams. The event brought together representatives from all member institutes and was followed by the Annual Fellowship, to enhance networking and collaboration within the non-state higher education sector. SLANSHEI Cricket Challenge 2024 took place on 28 September from 8:00 am onwards at the SLIIT Campus Cricket Grounds. A total of 10 teams took part in a day of competition and fun. Dr Dayan Rajapakse, Dr Kithsiri Edirisinghe and Gamindu Hemachandra participated in the Strategic Policy Dialogue on Transnational Education hosted by the British Council on 14 August 2024.
SLANSHEI members were extended an invitation through the Ministry of Education for an event with HE the President for state and non-state higher education academics on 13 August 2024 at 6:30 pm at Waters Edge, Battaramulla. President Dr Dayan Rajapakse took part in a panel discussion with HE the President.
The SLANSHEI Executive Committee was invited, and several members took part in the British Council TNE report launch held on 13 August 2024 at the BMICH graced by the Hon Minister of Education and the British High Commissioner His Excellency Andrew Patrick.
SLANSHEI members were invited to a dialogue with Chairman UGC Prof. Sampath Amarasinghe, Education Minster Hon. Susil Premajayantha and former Minister Hon S.B Dissanayake on 8 August 2024. The UGC chairman and the Hon Minister outlined plans for a unified regulatory framework covering both the state and non-state high education sectors.
The Sri Lanka Association of Non-State Higher Education Institutes (SLANSHEI) conducted its very first leadership training programme for youth on 25 June 2024 at Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala which brought together 700 students from ten schools in the city for a day of learning on higher education opportunities, the impact of recent developments in artificial intelligence
