Meeting with UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy

The Ex-Co of SLANSHEI was invited to meet the UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy, Lord Davies of Abersoch, for a discussion on UK Transnational Education (TNE) sector in Sri Lanka. The meeting, with the purpose of gaining insights on one of the UK’s largest TNE markets, resulted in an interesting exchange of ideas on strengthening relationship and positioning the UK as a leading TNE partner in the market. The role and support the British Council provides to this market and the possibilities of expanding and improving this support were also focal points of the meeting.

At the end of Lord Davies’ visit, the UK High Commission stated, “the UK is keen to boost the trade relationship, particularly in the areas of education and financial services sector, while also finding ways to support Sri Lanka’s ambitions on renewable energy and clean transport”.
